Hello friends and bloggers!

Thanks for all your reminders—I’ve had this blog set up for a very long time, and intended it as a website/blog but have not entered info nor posted to it. My excuse? I could not take the time to follow the step-by-step approach to setting up a WordPress page… pretty lame excuse, I know. I do have a better one though—my new novel, Summer of the Dancing Bear, was launched on June 12, and I have been busy with book signings at various Chapters/Indigo locations, and it’s been a wonderful journey–I’ll be posting my upcoming signings.
Here is a photo from one of the signings.

That gorgeous desk you see in the photo? Well, I was impressed with it to say the least, and just by chance, after another book signing at a different Chapters location, I came across Restoration Hardware, a furniture store that carries similar products. I didn’t see the same desk, but for those who might be inclined to search for it, the sales staff is very helpful… no, I don’t get commission nor a discount.

I recently discovered Goodreads—a readers/authors website. I met an interesting lady, who is also an enthusiastic reader, at one of the Chapters signings, and she suggested that I join. What a great website! Writers can post their new titles for a free Giveaway, and the reader(s) who win the book may want to post a review—a good way for an author to promote. My new novel, Summer of the Dancing Bear, is currently posted for a Giveaway (expires Aug. 6), so please check it out! You just might be one of the lucky winners! Some time back I took a workshop on social media with the dynamic Terry Fallis and decided to do the website myself. Then I thought that I should really hire one of the clever computer wiz kids to design my website. However, like many writers, I am an obsessive editor, and to quote the famous Oscar Wilde, “This morning I took out a comma and this afternoon I put it back in again,” I am also a victim of my own fixations, and I just know that I’d be editing and re-editing any info posted, and so I went back to my original plan to do it myself—and that’s my biggest excuse for taking so long to update the info. A big HELLO to all the writer-colleagues I met at Terry Fallis’ great workshop—hope you’ll join my blog and update me about your work as well!

I know I’m digressing–talking about this unique desk, my new novel, my book signings, the workshop that inspired me to do the website/blog myself, but hey, that’s what I’ve been doing, and that’s a lot of excuse, but here I am now, ready to take on the task. I’ll keep you updated as I go along. Hope you’ll check it out soon!

Look forward to your comments

Bianca
